WAY OUT WORLDWIDE LAUNCHES
SPREAD THE LOVE CAMPAIGN AGAINST DOMESTIC
VIOLENCE AND PARTNER ABUSE FOR 2010
(NEW YORK, NY) January 2010 – Way Out Worldwide has announced the kick-off of the Spread the Love fundraising campaign, benefiting the New York City Anti-Violence Project, and film “Why”, a story of domestic violence and partner abuse. The campaign will culminate in a walk-a-thon across the Brooklyn Bridge on February 13, 2010. This campaign is currently being sponsored by Grey Goose, Splash NYC, Steel Gym, ViG27 Lounge, Andrew Christian and PopChips. More sponsors TBA in the coming weeks.
Spread the Love is the charity component of Way Out
Worldwide that raises awareness on issues of domestic violence and partner abuse amongst the
LGBT community. Over the next six weeks, fundraisers will be held in New York City at various
venues such as SPLASH on 1/24/10, STEEL GYM on 1/27/10,RITZ 1/28/10 and ViG27 Lounge on 2/4/10.
Each fundraiser is expected to raise large amounts of financial support for the Spread the Love
campaign to fund all of its yearly endeavors.
“Many of us have been exposed to or know someone who
has suffered from some form of domestic violence or partner abuse. It’s a cause that
has often gained limited mainstream media attention until recently with high-profile
celebrities like Rihanna and Chris Brown,” states Joe Mode, CEO/President of Way Out
Worldwide.
However, in the LGBT community, domestic violence and partner
is abuse is rarely talked about. “It has become high on the agenda for Way Out Worldwide to
raise both awareness of, bring more attention and funding for numerous charities addressing
this crisis. This important cause is dear to my heart, having been in an abusive relationship
myself previously,” adds Joe.
All money raised from events, and the Walk-a-Thon itself, will be used to help fund the film “Why”,
a fictional story of partner abuse, in which a victim must make hard decisions in order to free
himself from the cycle of abuse (and the true friends who support him through this process). Funds
will also be donated to the NYC Anti-Violence Project, a charity dedicated to ridding the city of
domestic violence amongst the LGBT community, and those affected by HIV and AIDS.
